Forget the holiday madness, put away the left over turkey, and dive into a mystery by RP Dahlke
“I love it when a book gives me a unique main character with an interesting past. In A DEAD RED HEART, Rebecca Dahlke gave me Lalla Bains, a spunky, forty-year-old former New York runway model, twice-divorced, who returned home to Modesto, California, to help her ailing father with his equally ailing crop dusting business….keeps this story moving forward at a fast pace, but weaves all the pieces together in a seamless and entertaining manner. You’re sure to fall in love with Lalla Bains as I did and come away from this book anxious to read the first in the series, A DEAD RED CADILLAC…” Reviewed by Earl Staggs, Author
“…Entertaining, suspenseful, totally unexpected and has a love story mingled in with it.” MariLou Georges for 5 star review of A Dead Red Heart confessionsofreader.blogspot.com
The question is: What would you do if the love of your life lost their chance for a heart transplant because the donor organ went to a convicted felon?
Lalla Bains is done with Billy Wayne’s lovesick antics and when he litters her beloved red Cadillac with poetry scrawled on paper snowflakes, it’s the last straw. But that doesn’t mean she wants the homeless war veteran to drop dead at her feet—with a pair of blue handled scissors sticking out of his chest.
Lalla, once high fashion NY model, and now aero-ag pilot, certainly doesn’t need any more distractions during the long hot summers in the San Joaquin Valley of California; but being the exasperating, pushy, tenacious gal she is, Lalla believes the dead man deserves a better homicide investigation than that of the creepy Modesto detective who seems to slither across her path every chance he gets.
Then too, her tightwad, widowed father is now a born-again ladies’ man, a disreputable crop-dusting competitor threatens her business, and last but not least, she worries whether the sultry redhead in the local police department is taking more than a professional interest in her honey, Sheriff Caleb Stone.
With nothing but the vaguest of clues to go on, Lalla has decided that if nothing else, someone needs to be on the side of this misunderstood vet, and that person will be the exasperating, pushy, tenacious, Ms. Lalla Bains.
